ABOUT ME & PPP

My name is Vincent Chan. I was born in Hong Kong and migrated to Singapore when I was young. I have been dedicating my life to aviation since young.

My background:
- Hong Kong Air Cadet Corp
When I was young, my house was facing the Old Kai Tek Airport which I always admire the landing and take-off of planes. The manoeuvre it had to perform before landing on Runway 13 was awesome and fascinating. How to perform such a move with such a big aircraft? It inspired me to know more and hence I joint the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corp. (HKACC). Unfortunately, they teach more on discipline rather than aviation knowledge. I only got a ride on a helicopter in Sek Kong. After which I migrated to Singapore.

- Air Operations Systems Specialist
I was a full time solider with the Republic of Singapore Air Force. Working in Air Traffic Control environment. This satisfied my interest, as I can talk to pilots, control aircraft movements, understand airport operations, and being there in the runway.

- Bacherlor of Engineering Science in Aerospace Operations (with University of Technology, Sydney)
During the course of my full time service in RSAF, I took up this degree course (Not sponsored in anyway by the Government) to fulfil my interest in aviation. There were many modules in this course and I have topped the class and also I am included in the Dean's list of outstanding academic performance. If you ask me how to do it? I would only tell you with your heart and passion about aircraft, you can easily achieve it.

- Flight Dispatcher
Air Asia X and Myanmar Airways International were my customers. This job is the most satisfying job in my entire aviation career yet. I had to go through a flight dispatcher course conducted by Mr. Aston Tan in Singapore which gives me a whole new perspective in Commercial flight operations. The most satisfactory part is when your flight airborne and landed safely at the destination. Also it gives me an insight of comparison between budget airlines vs legacy airlines.

- Aircraft Performance Engineer
After my good performance doing my flight dispatch, my manager promoted me to become an Aircraft Performance Engineer. I was sponsored to attend the Aircraft Performance Course (Basic and Advance) in Airbus Training Center - Toulouse, France. These courses are really informative and I had learn all of my important knowledge about aircraft performance. After this, I have gained much confidence in any flight as I learn how safe and robust is an modern jet.

- Sales Engineer with a renowned manufacturer
For this job, I left the commercial airlines world and moved to a less known area - Business Aviation. This is another eye opener to learn about General Aviation (GA).

- Private Pilot (FAA)
Being a pilot is always my dream since young. I had gone through 2 most important interview in my life. One is with Singapore Airlines Cadet Pilot, the other one is Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot interview. I went in the 2nd round of the interview for Cathay Pacific but didn't success. There were many lessons learn for these interview and I will share the tips with you in future. So with all these failure, I took up private pilot lesson in US and obtained my Private Pilot License (PPL) in 40 days. Yes, I got it in a month because I am an aviation freak. I fly flight simulator at home, X-plane, FSX, Prepar3d and these sims help me a lot.

- Teacher (Pro Pilot Project)
After so many years of study and experience, especially I have been through many different sides of aviation (ATC, Flight Ops, Pilot, Performance, General Aviation and etc.) I think it is my duty and responsibility to share my knowledge. Hence this blog is formed.
